For our Crowdsourcing Lab, we decided to focus on the Education statistics provided by Census.Gov between the correlation of Student’s education and how it helps them with job security. Our data was selected from Macomb County and Oakland County, Michigan. Since Oakland University is a heavy commuter school we decided to create the survey for people to take from both counties.

As a team, we formed three questions based off of the data we collected. First, “Did you continue your education after high school?”. Second, “What worked better for your schedule with school?”. Third, “Did you ever work in trades?”. The link of our survey was sent out and 24 responses were received on the subject.

Going through the crowdsourcing process, we discovered that 88% of people continued their education after high school. When asked about what type of format they preferred for their education, 67% of people said they came in-person which was the majority. 21% voted that Hybrid classes worked for them while Online Classes received 12%. Lastly, a majority vote of 71% of people claimed they have never worked in trades leading us to believe that they chose their path of college education to gain advancements in their career.
Crowdsourcing people with a straight-forward survey seemed very effective and easy for people to complete. It is a good way to get a general idea of where everyone stands on the subject. However, if I could make one adjustment for the next time I would need to crowdsource data I would add a note section in with each answer. If a participant wanted to expand their thoughts and provide more background information, we could utilize that to provide more depth to the story.
